Page 21 - The rules for taking the Sefer Torah out of the Hekhal during Shabbat and holidays

The Hazzan or a man (with religious education) comes before the Hekhal and reads Shema Yisrael, etc.

Then the Hazzan reads (during the opening of the Hekhal) from Pitkhu li shaarey (Ps 118:19).

The Hazzan takes out the Sefer Torah and reads from Vayehi binsoa haaron (4M 10:35).

The Hazzan opens the Sefer Torah and reads from Vayikdu vayishtakhavu (Neh 8:5-6), then he puts the Sefer Torah on the Dukhan - the small table, counter; and the whole community falls prostrate (with faces to the ground), then they stand up and read from YHWH khafets lemaan tzidko (Isa 42:21), then the Khazan calls the community members to read from the Sefer Torah.

After the end of the reading, the Hazzan puts the Sefer Torah back in the Hekhal. During the reading of Yehalelu et shem YHWH (Ps 148:13) the Hekhal is opened, then during the reading of Uvenukho yomar shuva YHWH (4M 10:36) the Sefer Torah is put back into the Hekhal.

Then we read from passage אַשְׁרֵי הָעָם  Ashrey haam (Ps 144:15) till the end of the passage and then the Hekhal is closed.

The Hazzan sits on his seat and we read the Haftora.
