Page 10 - Yom Terua

We celebrate Yom Terua on the first day of the seventh month.

Yom Terua means the Day of enjoyment, the Day of emitting of loud noises and the Day of Shouting.

As it is written in 4th book of Moshe - B'midbar:

And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have a holy convocation: ye shall do no manner of servile work; it is a day of blowing the horn unto you (4M 29:1).

The Torah commands this day for a holy Assembly, commands us to be merry and prohibits us from doing work.
